Twintone Records
Twintone Records Brand Manual was created and designed for Graphic Design III: Visual Identity and Narrative at Columbia College Chicago.
Twintone Records was instrumental in helping the Twin Cities music scene achieve national attention in the 1980s. They helped spearhead the nationwide network of underground bands that formed the pre-Nirvana indie-rock scene. These labels presided over the shift from the hardcore punk that then dominated the American underground scene to the more diverse styles of alternative rock that was emerging.
J Sath designed a brand manual for Twintone Records. It established a cohesive brand identity that current/future employers can easily navigate and learn throughly about the brand. The brand manual focuses on brand positioning, visual identity, application, and social media guidelines for the Twintone Records brand.

2018
After creating the branding manual for Twintone Records, we were to create a special event that our company produced or sponsored. I decided to create a music festival; “Twintone Unknown” based in Chicago, IL.
From the name Twintone Unknown, I thought of using a question mark as mark of the festival’s visual identity. I decided to play with the depth and the dimension that the grid’s use within the Twintone Records brand. I wanted to create a mascot for the festival with the same “robotic-high-technology” vibe that the brand already upholds.
I created “?” in Autodesk Meshmixer and put them into some event graphic mockups.
Lastly, I had some prior experience with HTML/CSS and Javascript. I decided to create a mini-website for Twintone Unknown Music Festival.
